Mark Gallant: My Story
Ever since I was a young lad, I always loved birds and animals. Feeding birds from my hand, flipping through my Grampy’s Audubon field guides, staying out all night on “Big Night” to help frogs and salamanders across the road…you name it.
Have I always been a photog? No. In fact, some of my “art” in the Dig Photo class I took when I was a senior in high school was laughably bad, but perhaps I just needed to photograph something I was passionate about.
After I graduated from college and I had more free time on my hands with friends having left town, I started taking the time to get more serious about birding (I’m an old soul). And why not buy a camera to document my sightings?? It made perfect sense.
Several years later, some additional money laying around has allowed me to purchase silly camera gear that elicits remarks such as, “Wow, I’ve never seen one that big!” and “Now that’s a camera!” and even, “木卜戈camera人大難水,” accompanied by pointing fingers. Along with the flattering remarks, I’m also able to get some pretty nice pictures!
Life took me across the country in 2025 from Massachusetts to Wyoming and I have plenty of big plans for 2026 — new places, new wildlife and continuing to build my photography brand. Keep your eyes out for new features on the site, including (drumroll) the ability to purchase prints! Stay tuned…
